Chinese 8 Ball is a brand new format for cue sports played on 9ft tables, combining snooker style cushions and pockets (which are super tight), with 2 1/4″ American Spots and Stripes balls, played to the 8 ball format which is familiar to English 8 ball pool players. The International Chinese 8 Ball Masters was an invitational event. During the four-day Masters, Snooker King Stephen Hendry, led other seven international stars, including German Ralf Souquet, Irish veteran Ken Doherty, 9 ball stars Chris Melling, Darren Appleton, Gareth Potts, Mike Hill and Karen Corr played with 8 Chinese top players.
